Display Requirements

52nd Annual Chattanooga, TN: January 10, 11 & 12, 2020
49th Annual Birmingham, AL: February 7, 8 & 9, 2020

Every vehicle entered in the O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels must be surrounded by a fully enclosed, 4 sided display and must have ground cover underneath the vehicle.

  • Most exhibitors use carpet, carpet squares, or vinyl tiles or vinyl flooring as ground cover.
  • The edges of your ground cover must be taped down. Duck Tape comes in almost every color and is the perfect option to tape down the edges of your ground cover.
  • The outer dimensions of your display should be the exact same as your booth size, i.e.: 10’x10′, 10’x20′, 20’x20′, etc.
  • All 20’x20′ displays must be pre-approved and must include a “Kick Guard”: A solid border along the floor of your display.

Nice displays do not have to be expensive or labor intensive. With a little creativity, you can make a great display using common items found at your local home improvement store. Here are a few things to keep in mid when designing your display:

  • Your display frames your vehicle, much like a framed piece of artwork. Select materials that will co-ordinate with your vehicle and enhance its look. A nice display will strengthen a vehicle’s overall appearance, and a poorly thrown together display can detract from an otherwise beautiful vehicle.
  • You do not want your display to block a spectator’s view of your vehicle. While there is no official requirement, we have found that 24″ is the maximum height for an effective, non-intrusive display. Some exhibitor’s displays are as low as 6″
  • Your display will need a minimum of one upright stanchion every 10′. This means you will need at least 6 upright stanchions to enclose a 10’x20′ display, 8 upright stanchions to enclose a 20’x20′ display or 4 upright stanchions to enclose a 10’x10′ display
  • If you plan on using rope or plastic chain around the top of your stanchions, make sure that your bases are broad enough and heavy enough to support the weight of the rope or chain “pulling” at them. Your display must be stable enough to stand on its own and not fall if bumped by a spectator. Bases can be taped down for extra safety, but do not depend on the tape to hold up the stanchions.

Display Examples

The following examples are provided as inspiration only. Many new exhibitors want to build a display themselves rather than trying to purchase one, but aren’t sure where to start. Our suggestions may differ from the pictured display’s actual construction.
